The Dragonfly

Every now and again a photographer takes a photo that seems too good to be true. For me, this is that photo.

It was a muggy day in August. The air was heavy and still. I was walking through a marsh in search of reeds tall enough to grant some shade. When I noticed the most vibrant and beautiful shade of blue set against the tans and green of the growing grass.

With some careful, slow, and deliberate movement - and a little bit of pleading - I got close enough to take this photo. It turns out this guy was just as curious of me as I was of him. After taking the photo he followed me a little ways down the path.
