When I look at this photo I feel different things. The importance of patience; gratitude; calm; wonder. In a lot of ways, this one image is the culmination of a years worth of work.

I had made the trip up to this lake when I first started in my astrophotography journey. When I was still figuring it all out. The photo that I walked away with that time was a great learning experience, but it wasn’t the image I had imagined. I knew I would come back and revisit this lake when the time was right. Patience.

I always find peace when I’m sitting under the stars. Couple that with the breeze gently causing the water to crash on the rocks, and the level of peace and comfort was unmatched. Calm. Wonder.

Through astrophotography I’ve found a way to connect with nature. I get to experience scene like this first hand, and get to see the awe on people’s faces when they see my images and hear the stories. Gratitude.
